The likes of Gina Crampton and Grace Nweke reside in the super city's boundaries and, by current lockdown rules, aren't allowed to leave.
Netball New Zealand are hoping to get exemptions - the governing body say they didn't expect to have them by now and are hoping to sort them in the coming days.
The Silver Ferns have a plan if they can't get Auckland-based players involved in camps, which likely includes finding talent from other parts of the country.
The team gathers on Thursday afternoon ahead of the three-test series, starting September 20.
