Police are encountering people deliberately trying to cross the alert level boundary out of Auckland

Police are encountering people deliberately trying to cross the alert level boundary out of Auckland

One person tried to cross through Mercer yesterday with an exemption they wrote themselves - they were warned and turned around.

Another couple presented Mercer checkpoint staff with a letter stating they'd completed tests yesterday.

Staff found the location the couple said they were tested at was closed yesterday.

A vehicle drove across paddocks to try to bypass the Pukekawa checkpoint yesterday - they were turned around and given an infringement notice.
