Wellington might have to wait till after Christmas for its big gift

Wellington might have to wait till after Christmas for its big gift

Transmission Gully was meant to open last month, but has been delayed due to Covid-19.

Waka Kotahi hasn't set down when the 1.25 billion dollar project will open...or if it will be before Christmas.

Wellington Mayor Andy Foster says Waka Kotahi needs to start being open about the problems it's facing.

He says they need to at least explain what's ahead of them like issues around resource consent.

Aotearoa Transporting New Zealand CEO Nick Leggett says the level of public interest warrants transparency.

He says Waka Kotahi knows if it will be open before Christmas, and needs to put its information on the table.
