Police have received thousands of complaints of breaches of Covid-19 rules -- but the vast majority aren't resulting in prosecutions

New figures from Police show there have been more than three-thousand-one-hundred 105 online breach notifications relating to businesses, mass gatherings or individuals in Auckland, Northland and Waikato.
However, only 17 people had been charged with breaching Alert Level Three rules by 5pm yesterday.
They include 13 charges for failing to comply with Covid-19 orders, two for failing to comply with directions, prohibitions or restrictions and one for breaching the Health Act.
Two people were charged with assaulting, threatening, hindering or obstructing enforcement officers.
Over the same time period, 24 people received formal warnings.
