Work is underway to reduce fruit loss in Central Otago

Work is underway to reduce fruit loss in Central Otago

New research has found more than 10-percent of fruit grown on orchards in the region, isn't being sold or eaten.

The Central Otago District Council commissioned the study.

Suncrest Orchard Manager Michael Jones says they have sustainable options to get rid of the unused produce.

He says they make fruit port, feed the goats or turn it into compost to put it back onto the orchard.
