Police are planning more surveillance around Alert Level Three boundaries - to stop illicit holiday-making.
There's particular focus on Waikato - including Kawhia, Raglan and Te Awamutu.
Police say they've increased staffing in these areas in reaction to community concerns about compliance.
Patrols in Mokau have already had to turn around motorists travelling from Taranaki to their holiday homes.
Mokau is in Level Three while Taranaki sits at Level Two.
