Work's underway to identify which buildings are most at risk, even though the city is a low-risk seismic area.
Assessments have been completed for 63 buildings owned by the Dunedin City Council, and it says two thirds of them are not earthquake-prone, including the Dunedin Railway Station.
The remaining third is likely to be classified as earthquake-prone.
