A driver who ploughed into a woman at a Taita pedestrian crossing in Lower Hutt ?and fled?has been sentenced to home detention

27-year-old Jade Mark Harris appeared in the Hutt Valley District Court today?after previously pleading guilty to careless driving?failing to stop and assess injury and driving while forbidden.

The January hit and run left 37-year-old Anna Chesterfield fighting for her life in hospital.

Harris has been sentenced to eight months home detention and ordered to pay the victim two thousand dollars.
