The fire that ravaged a wastewater plant in Christchurch has finally been extinguished

The fire that ravaged a wastewater plant in Christchurch has finally been extinguished

Fire crews rushed to battle the blaze, which broke out in Bromley almost three weeks ago.

The force of the fire was concentrated in the building's two trickling filters - which have been smouldering ever since.

Christchurch City Council's head of three waters and waste Helen Beaumont says all surface hotspots appear to be out.

A full damage assessment will not happen until the material in the filters are removed.
