A suggestion it's too late to consider pulling the handbrake on reducing transport emissions

A Waka Kotahi modelling scenario released to the Herald, reveals that if too many people replace cars with cleaner methods like bikes and public transport, the move could cause a 600-million dollar gap in the agency's transport budget by the end of the decade.
That's because it's currently funded by fuel taxes and road user charges.
The budget is used to maintain existing roads, build new ones and invest in public transport.
Greater Auckland's Director Matt Lowrie argues we have no option but to continue down our path to being more eco-friendly.
He says we can reduce emissions, improve accessibility and reduce congestion - all by changing the way we travel.
