There's been a house fire in Invercargill

Firefighters were called to Conon Street at about 10pm.

Fire and Emergency Southern Communications shift manager Simon Lyford says two fire trucks were sent initially but the property was well alight so another two were sent, along with a support vehicle.

He says two crews were working with hoses and also a roof monitor.

Lyford says they then called for police as the fire was being treated as possibly suspicious.

A fire investigator will go to the house this morning.
