    Buller Emergency Management is working to return residents evacuated from Westport and surrounding areas back home after heavy rain overnight.

    Buller Emergency Management is working to return residents evacuated from Westport and surrounding areas back home after heavy rain overnight.


    121 residents slept in evacuation centres overnight.

    Controller Bob Dickson says the centres were fully staffed through the night and are working today to assist with getting residents back in their homes.

    He says people who return home and find them damaged or unsafe, should contact authorities.
