The region recorded two thousand-119 new cases of the virus yesterday - with four more people in hospital.
Canterbury District Health Board CEO Peter Bramley is urging people to have their third dose, if they haven't already.
He says more than 100-thousand eligible Cantabrians are yet to be fully protected against Omicron.
The total booster rate for eligible New Zealanders is almost 76 percent.
