Covid is thought to have pushed more people to hospital emergency departments

The Waitemata District Health Board spent a million dollars in the year to February sending less urgent cases to A and E, up five percent.
Health commentator, Ian Powell, says it's understandable, given the DHB's fast-growing population.
He says there's more pressure on EDs because people have more complex conditions, especially during the pandemic.
Powell says that was accelerated under Delta and massively so, under Omicron.
