Wayne Smith - the former Chief Executive of Connexionz Limited - was jailed for 17 years in February.
The 53-year-old's abandoned his bid to keep his name suppressed, but Newstalk ZB understands he'll still appear in court today to appeal his sentence.
Connexionz Executive Chair Tony Kan supports the naming of Smith - who led the company for two and a half years before being dismissed.
