Commuters could be held up for even longer on a busy Christchurch road

Commuters could be held up for even longer on a busy Christchurch road

The Christchurch City Council has begun work installing peak hour bus priority lanes on Lincoln Road.

The new bus lanes are aimed to make bus journey times shorter and more reliable.

This is stage one of works, and involves widening Lincoln Road to allow for the bus lanes to be installed.

Speed will be reduced to 30k through the work area.

Other changes will be made to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.

The work is expected to run until mid November.
