Pollsters are picking National's candidate Sam Uffindell to win the Tauranga by-election by a safe margin

The latest Q and A Kantar Public Poll has 45 percent backing the new candidate, and 35 percent going for Labour's Jan Tinetti.

Act's Cameron Luxton is on seven percent.

A Newshub Nation Reid Research poll last week also indicated Uffindell would have an easy win.

That placed him at 56.9 percent of the vote, Labour on 21.9, and Act on 7.4.

Voting closes and preliminary results will come out on Saturday.
