    New Zealand's Eve Thomas has placed seventh and hit a personal in the final of the women's 800 metres freestyle at the Swimming World Championships in Budapest, with a time of eight minutes and 30 seconds


    American superstar Katie Ledecky won the race in eight minutes and eight seconds - her 22nd world championship medal.

    Meanwhile Lewis Clareburt, Carter Swift, Chelsey Edwards and Laura Littlejohn have set a new New Zealand record for the mixed four by 100 metres freestyle relay in three minutes and 27.91 seconds, but missed out on the final by one spot.
