Orbus services will operate a reduced bus timetable in Dunedin and Queenstown from next Tuesday
13 July 2022
Otago Regional Council advises this is to provide greater reliability after disruptions caused by driver shortages.
The reduced timetable will be the same seven days a week in Queenstown, and in Dunedin it will operate on weekdays, with normal weekend services running.
Transport Manager Doug Rodgers says there simply aren't enough drivers to operate all routes or trips daily - but the move should mean far fewer cancellations.
He says the new wave of Covid and winter illnesses have created a shortage of drivers in the cities - alongside the national issue.
The updated timetable will be on the Regional Council website, the Transit App and the e-stops at the Dunedin Hub.
