At the party's annual conference, leader Chris Luxon has announced new carrot and stick polices to get welfare recipients into work.
Those under 25 will receive help to get into work, but those who don't follow the plans, may face sanctions.
Green Party spokesperson for social development, Ricardo Menéndez March, calls it benefit bashing.
He says we deserve better than politicians, who have been left behind by successive governments.
