WeatherWatch is warning rain and wind will ramp up from tomorrow, with the worst falls on Wednesday and Thursday.
Weather analyst Philip Duncan says the bad weather is expected to last much of the week.
He says the heavy rain event is coming in for northern and western parts of the country - with the South Island standing out.
