Three newcomers have been named in the Tall Blacks squad for friendlies this week in Japan ahead of two World Cup qualifiers before the end of the month

All three come out of the National Basketball League, with Nikau McCullough from the championship winning Otago Nuggets, Sam Dempster from Nelson and Carlin Davison out of Taranaki.

Davison is just 18, while Dempster is 32.

The squad also includes power forward Isaac Fotu for the first time since 2019.
