The supercity's waterfront properties command a price premium of 76 percent, when compared with equivalent properties set back from the water.
It's only beaten by Sydney -- which sits at 121 percent.
In the 12 months to the end of June, the average price increase for a waterfront property was 10.9 percent.
OneRoof Editor Owen Vaughan says there are higher premiums across Australasia, than the rest of the world.
He says it seems to be part of our DNA to want beach front properties and views.
