Labour and Te Pati Maori are united in concerns around the motives for introducing the Treaty Principals Bill in the House tomorrow

Labour and Te Pati Maori are united in concerns around the motives for introducing the Treaty Principals Bill in the House tomorrow

It had been scheduled for November 18.

Chris Hipkins says it's clear why the introduction was moved.

He says he suspects the Government wanted to get the bill introduced before the Hikoi arrives in Wellington -- but he says this won't make a difference, in fact it will likely increase the number of people who join the Hikoi.

Te Pati Maori Co-Leader Rawiri Waititi agrees.

He says the timeframe changes shows the Government is fearful of how Maori are activating.
