Dolly Parton didn't drink red wine for years because it reminded her of love rival Jolene

The country legend described the woman who attempted to steal her husband in her famous 1973 song of the same name singing that Jolene had "flaming locks of auburn hair" - and she's now admitted it put her off red wine for a long time

However, Dolly - who has been married to Carl Dean since 1966 - is now adding a Pinot noir to her Dolly Wines brand after finally getting over her issues with red drinks. In a post on Instagram, she explained: "For many years I have not liked the colour red, because it reminds me of that woman who tried to take my husband.

"Remember, 'Jolene, Jolene, Jolene?' But my new Pinot noir has changed all that! I love red now. You should try it!"

A description of the wine posted on the Dolly Wines website stated: "Dolly Pinot Noir presents a bright red hue that captures the eye. Aroma shows blueberry pie, sweet cherries and subtle dried thyme character.

"The palate is silky and fresh, full of juicy red fruit flavours, with a subtle hint of vanilla that adds a nice smoothness to the finish. Easy to enjoy with a balanced and refreshing feel throughout."

Ming Alterman, marketing director of Accolade Wines, Americas, said in a statement: "We are incredibly proud to bring Dolly Wines' Pinot Noir to the market.

"This release is a true testament to the exceptional quality and passion of our winemaking team, working in close partnership with Parton Family Cellars.

"With its vibrant character and exceptional craftsmanship, this Pinot Noir perfectly embodies the spirit of Dolly's vision - a wine meant to be shared with those you love, celebrating life's moments, both large and small."

Dolly's wine company also sells a chardonnay, rosé and a prosecco. The Pinot noir is currently only available in the US and retails for $14.99.
