    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 2030hrs Friday 19-Apr-2024 by MetService

    Situation:
    A low pressure system approaches the North Island from the west late on Friday. The low moves slowly eastwards over the North Island on Saturday, then farther away to the east on Sunday. A series of weak cold fronts move north and dissipate over the South Island Friday through Monday as well. A ridge of high pressure otherwise builds over Aotearoa/New Zealand on Monday and Tuesday.

    Forecast issued at 1629hrs Friday 19-Apr-2024
    Valid to 8 pm Friday for Inshore waters from Waitarere to Pukerua Bay and out to Kapiti Island.
    Friday: Northwest 10 knots, becoming variable 5 knots late evening. Sea slight. Mainly fine. Westerly swell 1 metre.
    Saturday: Variable 5 knots. Southeast 10 knots developing in the morning, rising to 15 knots for a time in the afternoon. Sea slight. Cloudy periods with a chance of a shower. Westerly swell 1 metre, easing to half a metre.

    Outlook until midnight Tuesday:
    Sunday: Southeast 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots in the morning.
    Becoming northeast 10 knots in the evening. Fine. Westerly swell half
    a metre.
    Monday: Variable 5 knots, becoming southerly 10 knots early. Mainly fine, a
    possible morning shower. Westerly swell half a metre, rising to 1
    metre for a time.
    Tuesday: Northeast 10 knots, becoming northwest 15 knots early, rising to 25
    knots later. Fine, becoming cloudy later. Westerly swell half a
    metre, rising to 1 metre for a time.
