    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 0130hrs Sunday 05-May-2024 by MetService

    Situation:
    A ridge of high pressure still covers much of the country today while a weak trough affects the upper North Island. A cold front moves over the South Island from the southwest on Monday, then weakens over the North Island early Tuesday, followed by another ridge. A weak cold front moves northeast over the South Island later Wednesday.

    Forecast issued at 2242hrs Saturday 04-May-2024
    Valid to 1 am Sunday for Inshore waters from Waitarere to Pukerua Bay and out to Kapiti Island.
    Sunday: Variable 5 knots. Northerly 10 knots developing this afternoon, rising to northwest 15 knots this evening. Sea slight. Fine, then fair visibility in a few showers from this evening. Southwest swell half a metre or less.

    Outlook until midnight Wednesday:
    Monday: Northwest 15 knots, turning southerly 15 knots in the afternoon.
    Showers, clearing. Southwest swell half a metre dying out.
    Tuesday: Southeast 15 knots easing to 10 knots later. Fine.
    Wednesday: Southerly 10 knots. Fine.
