Netflix have cut ties with Kevin Spacey after he was accused of sexual misconduct

The streaming service - who self-comissioned and distribute 'House Of Cards' - have decided not to work with the 58-year-old actor anymore and are now deciding if and how they can carry on the show for a sixth and final season without Spacey's involvement.

Spacey - who plays villainous Francis Underwood in the show - has been accused of making sexual advances towards actor Anthony Rapp when Rapp was just 14-years-old and has also allegedly sexually assaulted others.

Netflix have also decided not to release his film about writer Gore Vidal.

It was previously reported that Spacey's character could be killed off, with the focus instead on his equally villainous wife Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright.

Since the allegations against Spacey came to light, production on 'House of Cards' was indefinitely suspended.

In a joint statement, Netflix and Media Rights Capital said: "MRC and Netflix have decided to suspend production on House of Cards season six, until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew."

Netflix had also previously revealed that 'House of Cards' will end with its upcoming season.

A statement released on Monday (30.10.17) read: "Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night's news concerning Kevin Spacey.

"In response to last night's revelations, ex ecutives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported. As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time."
