Kapiti Coast District Council will consider financially supporting a private airline

Air Chathams has been in negotiations with Kapiti Airport to replace their Auckland to Paraparaumu service since Air New Zealand canned the flights in April.

The council will discuss supporting the service at a public-excluded meeting tomorrow.

Todd Property, which owns the airport, says it's also made considerable efforts to assist Air Chathams by providing them with a free lease for the first year, and 33 percent discount for another two years.
