Police are investigating an assault on two students and a teacher at Northland College in Kaikohe

One of the students suffered serious injuries and collapsed after the attack
yesterday morning, and is now in a stable condition in Bay of Islands Hospital.

Principal John Kendal took to the school's Facebook page to inform parents,
saying several youth - who are not students at the college - came onto the
grounds and attacked the victims.

He assured parents the wellbeing and safety of students and staff is their
greatest priority.

Several parents have voiced their concerns on the Facebook post, pointing the
finger at a gang presence in the area, and also calling for more security at
the school.

A 17-year-old continues to help police with their enquiries.
