The same road safety messages are being repeated in the wake of the crash that's killed eight people

A 9-year-old boy is the sole survivor of yesterday's head-on collision on State Highway One between Tokoroa and Taupo.

Taupo District David Trewavas says he travels the same road every week and people just have to take care.

He says it's a busy road and heading into winter people have to be careful and slow down.

He says with that being said more passing lanes would certainly come in handy.
