Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 60s driving near Luggate, yesterday, sustained serious facial injuries after being struck by an object

The woman was 2 kilometres south of Luggate, near Wanaka, when the object - which Police describe as an old brass diesel cap - hit her, around 3.30 in the afternoon.

It smashed through her window, and Police are trying to work out where it came from.

They're wanting to speak to anyone who may have seen the object on the road, or coming off a passing vehicle.

Anyone with dash-cam footage along the Luggate-Cromwell Road, or any information that could help is urged to call 10-5 .
