The Ministry for Primary Industries has been fined nearly 32 thousand dollars for exposing workers to hazardous chemicals in 2018

The Ministry for Primary Industries has been fined nearly 32 thousand dollars for exposing workers to hazardous chemicals in 2018

MPI has been sentenced in the Invercargill District Court today ... over burns workers suffered while cleaning a farm infected with Mycoplasma bovis.

The OneStaff workers were wearing gloves to use an MPI-approved cleaner called X-Clean DOO AWAY.

But the chemical seeped into the gloves' cuffs - burning eight workers on their hands, wrists, and arms.

A WorkSafe investigation found the Ministry failed to ensure work was carried out safely.
