More than 120 million dollars has been paid out by insurance companies for flooding in July

The storm cut a swathe of damage across the country, including in Westport, the upper South Island, Wellington and the North Island.
Preliminary Insurance Council figures show more than five thousand claims to date.
Nearly four thousand are for house and contents, 795 were commercial and business-related and there were 590 claims for motor vehicles.
