Asbestos has been found in a building damaged by fire in Motueka in the Tasman district this morning

Fire crews were called to King Edward Street around 4.30.
Fire and Emergency says smoke has been drifting around the area, and people nearby should stay indoors with windows and doors closed.
They say if ash is on or around properties it should be washed away , and clothes on outside lines re-washed as a precaution.
Anyone needing medical advice should call health line.
Firefighters are still at the scene.
