Police say they were called to reports of a vehicle swerving across Edgecumbe's College Road on Tuesday - and found the vehicle parked outside a primary school.
They say the 58 year old had an excess breath alcohol reading of 777 micrograms, three times the legal limit.
Police say people should never ever drive impaired by alcohol, drugs or fatigue.
The woman is due in Whakatane District Court on June 15.
