The friend of a swimmer missing in Lake Wanaka has described the moment he lost sight of him

Emergency crews were called to the lakefront before 7pm last evening.

A friend of the man, who was swimming with him, is watching on as police divers search.

He says the man appeared to be fine and happy before he suddenly stopped swimming.

The man says he looked for his friend to offer help, but he simply sank beneath the surface.
