Tasman Police are disappointed by the number of people drink driving

Tasman Police are disappointed by the number of people drink driving

Up to 14 drivers were caught at checkpoints on Friday and Saturday nights in Nelson, Wakefield and Motueka.

More than two-thousand breath tests were conducted.

Acting Tasman Road Policing Manager Senior Sergeant Hamish Chapman says 14 is far too many.

He says unfortunately, there are still some people who are choosing to put themselves and others at risk.

Ten people were also caught not wearing their seatbelt and five people were driving while using their phone.
