New Zealand sprinter Tiaan Whelpton could be about to become world number one in the world 100 metre rankings

New Zealand sprinter Tiaan Whelpton could be about to become world number one in the world 100 metre rankings

The Cantabrian is the favourite to post the quickest time at the Lovelock Classic in Timaru this afternoon, in what he's treating as a warm-up for bigger events later this month.

Whelpton says there are certain advantages to getting out on the track early in the year.

    The men's 100 metres is at 2.20pm.
