Fisheries carried out a major investigation into crayfish harvesting from Mahia Peninsula, using fake permits.
Ringleaders - Martin and Whareake Paul - pleaded guilty in Whakatane District Court yesterday, to taking nearly 15-hundred crays, worth about 43-thousand-dollars.
They've been sentenced to home detention.
Others in the group, who didn't profit from the offending, received a mixture of home detention and fines.
