A celebration of the pooch is set to kick off this weekend in Queenstown and Wanaka

A celebration of the pooch is set to kick off this weekend in Queenstown and Wanaka

Residents are heading along to the regions dog walks.

The community events will feature competitions, giveaways, sausage sizzles and stalls run by local animal experts.

Queenstown Lakes District Council spokesperson Campbell Weal says it'll be a ball of a time.

He says it'll be a great event for people to meet fellow dog owners in the district and chat to the animal control team.
