A man has been charged over an assault and theft in Palmerston North which left another man with moderate injuries

A 32-year old man had his car stolen in Thursday's attack.

Now, a 46-year-old is due in the New Plymouth District Court on charges of injuring with intent to injure and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.

Police are asking for sightings of the stolen vehicle, which has yet to be recovered.

It's a white Toyota Altezza, registration GDB780.
