Wairoa is once again isolated following Cyclone Gabrielle

A section of State Highway 2 at Morere -- north-east of Nuhaka and Wairoa -- will be closed for the next two days while roading crews install new relief culverts.

Wairoa also remains cut off from Napier and Hastings, due to closures on State Highway 2 at Waikare Bridge and Tutira to Eskdale.

Wairoa can still be accessed from the north via the inland route, but there are multiple traffic management sites, speed restrictions and unsealed sections along this route.

Gisborne remains accessible via both State Highway 2 and State Highway 35, but there is still damage on board roads.
