    A man is in hospital after being shot while taking part in the first day of duck-shooting season


    The Otago Daily Times reports the man was struck by shotgun pellets north of Gore in Otama Valley Road, and taken to Southland Hospital.

    Police say his injuries aren't believed to be life threatening, but they are investigating.

    He says he's not aware of any related firearm seizures.
