Mark Lundy will be at least 66 years old, before he gets another chance at parole

The 64-year-old has spent 21-years behind bars - for murdering his wife and child in their Palmerston North home in 2000.

The Parole Board yesterday denied him parole for a second time -- saying he failed to present a safety plan that considers triggers for reoffending outside prison.

Open Justice reporter Jeremy Wilkinson says the board is in no hurry to reassess its decision.

He says the gap between his first appearance and this appearance was nine months, but the gap between this appearance and the next one will be two years.
