Green Party co-leader James Shaw says New Zealand is in the "clean-up the mess" stage of the Covid pandemic

The economic credentials of the four biggest parties were put on show last night at the ASB Great Debate in Queenstown.

Shaw - the former Associate Finance Minister - says there was a massive cash injection into the economy when Covid hit.

He says there was bad information as well, but the Government did what it had to - to keep people attached to their work, with an income.

Shaw says inflation is a function of there being too much money versus supply, pushing up price - which has to be dealt with.
