    Rotorua Lakes Council is facing a WorkSafe charge -- after a tourist suffered serious injuries from allegedly slipping into a geothermal sinkhole near Whakarewarewa Village last year


    The council hasn't entered a plea.

    The charge carries a maximum fine of 1.5-million-dollars.

    The charging document alleges council should've ensured adequate assessment of the site, including testing, inspections, and fencing.

    The case will be recalled late next month.
