Increased competition in urban centres is driving up property values

Increased competition in urban centres is driving up property values

The latest QV House Price Index shows the average home increased in value by 2.3 percent in the most recent quarter - the national average now sits at 914-thousand dollars.

Only Tauranga and Marlborough recorded slight falls in home values.

QV operations manager James Wilson says growth has shifted from the regions to the cities.

He says first home buyers are becoming active, followed by investors and now owner occupiers are bringing their houses back to market.
