    An unwelcome Christmas eve wake-up for some in the Lower North Island..



    A magnitude 4.5 earthquake, described by GeoNet as light, struck just before 5am.

    It was centred 35 kilometres south of Porangahau, at a depth of 20 kilometres.

    Locals from Masterton to Hastings are reporting feeling it.
