Heavy rain and cold temperatures are set to put a pause on summer holidays

Heavy rain and cold temperatures are set to put a pause on summer holidays

A cold front is set to arrive today - bringing much lower temperatures with it.

MetService Meteorologist Claire O'Connor says this will particularly be felt overnight.

She says across the South Island, overnight temperatures will be blow 10 degrees - even six in Invercargill and five degrees in Queenstown.

The cold front is expected to cool the North Island slightly, tomorrow.

But that doesn't mean summer is over - MetService says once the front passes through, the warmth will return
